The aspherical lens system was first used in very expensive binoculars and cameras. It was not used in rifle scopes because it could not take the pounding that scopes demanded. Simmons has created an aspherical lens system, just for riflescopes. It performs beautifully in their compact 44mm scope, the Aetec. It allows a wide field of view with a completely flat image. and the edges are as bright as the center. Plus, it has a longer eye relief than most conventional wide angle systems. Aetec features fully multi-coated lenses, 1/4 MOA adjustments, and is waterproof, shockproof and fogproof.
